Did you know?
The UK version of GDPR, now updated by the ICO states very clearly that Cookies used by most Analytics software require user consent.
Of course this subject to change, yet at the time of writing, when asked "Are analytics cookies exempt?", the ICO clearly states:
"No. It is important to note that PECR does not distinguish between cookies used for analytics activities and those used for other purposes. Analytics cookies do not fall within the ‘strictly necessary’ exemption. This means you need to tell people about analytics cookies and gain consent for their use."
Meaning to use popular Analytics software like the one Google offers for free to millions of website owners worldwide, must ask for permission first. They also make it clear the asking for consent must be done in an honest way, without forcing users to accept all cookies etc.
With the rules as they currently stand, Google Analytics is almost redundant for UK websites as acquiring genuine consent will be extremely tricky, especially as so many people are fed up with the very annoying cookie pop-ups. Even if you managed to persuade some users, it will be a very small subset of your user base.
We’re Different, We Only Eat Cookies
We don't use Cookies with our analytics. Our Analytics is simple yet powerful, it only tracks key actions like phone call clicks and form submissions, never users.
This means that we don't know any demographic data, so it won't help identify your audience type, but it does a great job of revealing website performance via key insights like your sitewide Conversion Rate and average Daily Leads.
